LESS TALK .. LESS MISTAKE .. LESS CONFLICT..

Since the day I learned making friends, I really believed that I am very good in treasuring and giving importance to friendship. Everyone who knew me how emotional I get when it comes to my friends. Until today, I still have communications from my elementary friends, high school friends, college friends and even those who I worked with from my previous jobs. I always enjoyed chatting with them and spending time with them once in a while especially now that we’re all grown up and busy with our own lives.

But what happens next when too much conflict happened between you and some of your friends and you’re all fed up? We’ve tried to fix things but for some reason we’re not like the same one just like before. Now it seems like we’re drifting apart from each other. Although, there are times we missed the old days, yet we can’t bring it back the way it used to be and we’re now like different persons who can’t stand each other’s company. That’s the sad part of it.

Although they don’t tell me this straight to my face, I know and I can feel that there are times that they are disappointed, feeling sorry and annoyed with how we become after almost three years and how I treat them. Every time we tried to spend time with each other like the old days, we never talked about it, we choose to keep it aside silently and pretend like there’s nothing wrong.

These past few months I started being skeptical about me if I’m still capable of treasuring friendship. How easy for me to just keep them aside and disregard them, choosing others than be with them to the point of making alibis and lies. I don’t understand myself anymore. I’m sad and feeling guilty with treating them just like an old acquaintance but I’m not doing something about it. It’s like I’m contented with just a smile and nod or a quick chat with them every time I saw them in the hallway, thinking it’s better that way.

alcohol poisoning

I realized something today after reading some article about alcohol poisoning. Well, not that I am a drinker but I do get drunk a few times with friends. Last Christmas Eve after having some shots of alcohol, for the second time I experienced having difficulty in breathing but not as bad as the first time I experienced it. The first time I had it was really worst, I really can’t breathe that time, chest pain was really unbearable, my friends told me the morning after that I look so pale and I realized it might be an alcohol poisoning. It’s kinda scary after learning about it and I think from now on I should drink responsibly.

According to
http://www.ehow.com/about_5589142_alcohol_related-breathing-problems.html

Alcohol is a depressant, meaning it will slow down your nervous system. Depending on the amount of alcohol you consume, you may experience a variety of emotional and physical changes. For example, when alcohol is absorbed in your bloodstream, it is then dispersed to other organs. The liver is responsible for dispelling the alcohol from your body. However, if the liver cannot keep up with your alcohol consumption, then the alcohol will build up and lead to you becoming intoxicated, which cause certain functions controlled by your nerves to be impaired. Breathing is one of them.

According to http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/215627.php

When a person has alcohol poisoning they have consumed a toxic amount of alcohol, usually over a short period. Their blood alcohol level is so high it is considered toxic (poisonous). The patient can become extremely confused, unresponsive, disoriented, have shallow breathing, and can even pass out or go into a coma. Alcohol poisoning can be life-threatening and usually requires urgent medical treatment.

Binge drinking is a common cause of alcohol poisoning. However, it can also occur accidentally, as when somebody unintentionally drinks alcohol-containing products (much less common).

When somebody consumes an alcohol drink, their liver has to filter out the alcohol, a toxin from their blood. We absorb alcohol much more quickly than food - alcohol gets to our bloodstream much faster. However, the liver can only process a limited amount of alcohol; approximately one unit of alcohol every hour.

If you drink two units in one hour, there will be an extra unit in your bloodstream. If during the next hour you drink another two units, you will have two units floating around in your bloodstream at the end of two hours after your drinking session. The faster you drink, the higher your BAC (blood alcohol concentration) becomes. If you drink too fast, your BAC can spike dangerously high.

According to http://www.drinkaware.co.uk/facts/factsheets/acute-alcohol-poisoning

1. Alcohol is a poison
Agatha Christie doesn’t write about it as a murder weapon and it doesn’t feature in Cluedo. But alcohol is a poison and can sometimes have lethal consequences.
Your body can only process one unit of alcohol an hour. Drink a lot in a short space of time and the amount of alcohol in the blood can stop the body from working properly.
It can:
·         slow down your brain functions so you lose your sense of balance.
·         irritate the stomach which causes vomiting and it stops your gag reflex from working properly – you can choke on, or inhale, your own vomit into your lungs.
·         affect the nerves that control your breathing and heartbeat, it can stop both.
·         dehydrate you, which can cause permanent brain damage.
·         lower the body’s temperature, which can lead to hypothermia.
·         lower your blood sugar levels, so you could suffer seizures.

2. Look out for the signs
It can be a very fine line. One minute your house guest is stupidly drunk, the next they’ve become dangerously intoxicated.
Being aware of the signs of alcohol poisoning is crucial, because if a person you care about is suffering from acute alcohol poisoning, they will be in no state to help themselves.
Look out for:
·         Confusion
·         Loss of coordination
·         Vomiting
·         Seizures
·         Irregular or slow breathing (less than eight breaths a minute)
·         Blue-tinged or pale skin
·         Low body temperature (hypothermia)
·         Stupor – when someone’s conscious but unresponsive
·         Unconsciousness – passing out

3. Know what NOT to do
Acute alcohol poisoning can be extremely dangerous. Your best intentions could make it worse. There are so many myths around about how to deal with people who’ve drunk to excess, so it’s a good idea to make sure you’re aware of what NOT to do.
NEVER:

• Leave someone to sleep it off. The amount of alcohol in someone’s blood continues to rise even when they’re not drinking. That’s because alcohol in the digestive system carries on being absorbed into the bloodstream. Too much alcohol in the blood stops the body working properly.
• Give them a coffee. Alcohol dehydrates the body. Coffee will make someone who is already dehydrated even more so. Severe dehydration can cause permanent brain damage.
• Make them sick. Their gag reflex won’t be working properly which means they could choke on their vomit.
• Walk them around. Alcohol is a depressant which slows down your brain’s functions and affects your sense of balance. Walking them around might cause accidents.
• Put them under a cold shower. Alcohol lowers your body temperature, which could lead to hypothermia. A cold shower could make them colder than they already are.
• Let them drink any more alcohol. The amount of alcohol in their bloodstream could become dangerously high.

yummy noche buena!.. :D

Every time there is an occasion or any family gathering, papa never failed to show where he is best at.. none other than cooking and food presentation. By the way, he is a former cook and I know he missed the things he do before.

So, this is what he prepared for our Noche Buena last Christmas eve, deliciously simple but beautiful! Love it !!.. :D

Merry Christmas!!

papa's laughter .. :D

My father is a very serious person. He seldom laugh, it’s like laughing cost too much for him. There are times when all of us are laughing too loud and almost having stomach ache for laughing while watching some comedy movie or TV show, then there he is just sitting quietly at the side with no expression on his face even a slight.

That’s why whenever we saw him laugh or even smile, that’s really SOMETHING to us!.. :D because it’s very unusual. It’s a great feeling seeing him like that. It makes me really happy. I know my other siblings would say that too.

I remember just the other day I caught him laughing because of my nieces and nephew. Chezka (my older brother’s 2 year old daughter) was trying to fit herself beside my mom who’s already carrying JM (my brother’s 6 month old son), then there at the other side was Ashley (my sister’s 5 year old daughter) who’s having a little tantrum because of jealousy with her younger cousins. Imagine the three of them wanting my mom’s attention, all of them being so close to my mom and such a lola’s baby. Then, my brother started playing with them and taking pictures with the three of them especially Chezka. Chezka was enjoying the moment, making poses and hugging JM at the same time. My mom was also laughing out loud because of Chezka while JM was already crying due to irritation from too much hugging. I wish I had a camera or we have a CCTV cam to capture those rare moments of papa’s laughing.

** I can’t find any pictures of papa smiling.. :( I forgot he’s not fond of picture taking. KJ!!.. hehe ..

out little "drama queen".. awwww ..

It breaks my heart as I saw her crying silently after she spoke with my sister over the phone. I don’t know how will I console her, I’m not good at it. I wish my goodnight kiss to her helps her even in a slight way.

My sister works as a field researcher/interviewer that’s why most of the time she was away from home. Her daughter Ashley was always left at home with my mother. She was such an emotional child, she easily cries about little things even from watching teleseryes or just because of her crazy imaginations. We made fun of her because of that by calling her as “drama queen”.

But seeing her crying silently a while ago is not funny. She misses her mom so much and she’s not used to sleep at night with no one beside her.

Construction during Christmas Season

Twenty days to go and it’s Christmas day. Christmas decorations are everywhere. People are busy rushing for Christmas shopping. That’s the usual things we observed during this season and that’s reasonable. What I don’t understand is that why does road construction is also everywhere during this month when they knew that this is also the season that most of the people are busy. When in fact they have lots of time to do that instead and not during “ber” months. I know, it’s not that easy and it’s not just the time factor on when should be road construction should be done, there’s the budget from the government, etc. It just that I noticed it’s always like that yearly. I don’t know why, it’s like they telling the people that it’s their gift, that they are giving this big favor to us and soon it’s us  who will benefit to that. Still, I don’t get it!

It pisses me off every time I saw the sign “SORRY FOR THE INCOVENIENCE. ROAD IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION”. Well, they should be sorry! Everyday I am experiencing traffic along San Andres Bukid because of that road construction. Didn’t they know how much delay it causes not just to me but to all people going that way everyday? Haaaays…

it's Buffy Summers first!.. ^_^

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American television series which aired from March 10, 1997, until May 20, 2003. The series was created in 1997 by writer-director Joss Whedon under his production tag, Mutant Enemy Productions with later co-executive producers being Jane Espenson, David Fury, David Greenwalt, Doug Petrie, Marti Noxon, and David Solomon. The series narrative follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as "Vampire Slayers" or simply "Slayers". In the story, Slayers are "called" (chosen by fate) to battle against vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches, and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the "Scooby Gang". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer_(TV_series)

Before any vampire stories such as Vampire Diaries, Twilight Saga, etc. began to hit the televisions and big screens , it’s Buffy, the Vampire Slayer first. :) I don’t know how old I am that time watching the series every night.

I was so fascinated in that series, the fighting scenes which made me love Buffy because of her great skills to think that she was a girl, the magical powers involved in the story, and the complicated love stories. I love Sarah Michelle Gellar who is the main character. The series lasted from Season One to Season Seven.

That’s where I think my vampire stories addiction started. ^_^

One Day

One Day is a film directed by Lone Scherfig. It was adapted by David Nicholls from his 2009 novel of the same name. It stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Focus Features released the film theatrically in August 2011.

This is definitely not a movie review. I don’t want to check on the technicalities of the movie and be a critic, let the expert to their job on that because I know I’m not good at it. I just want to focus on the story itself, how it made me feel during and after watching it.

What a sad movie!.. haaays .. but a good one. I’m just so sad that it took them years to finally realize that they are meant for each other. I regret for those times passed and missed opportunities for them, too many times that are wasted, times that they should be enjoying each other’s company and savoring every moments of them together. And they have just too little time to spend time together because Emma died at the end of the movie. What more sad about her death is that she died frustrated longing to have a child of her own to the man she loved. Then, Dexter was left behind trying to live his life without Emma.

However, the good thing about it is their friendship from the start. They kept on seeing each other every 15th of July of the year as an anniversary of their friendship and actually the night they spend together after their graduation.

This movie really made me cry. :((

an ending called forever

It was 2008 when the film Twilight first hit the big screen. I could still remember I don’t even have a slightest idea about the movie nor the book when I watched it. I was in a friend’s house that time when they decided to watch that movie. The first time I watched it, I was totally hooked up with the story. I was intrigued and excited to know more about the whole series. From then on, I started waiting impatiently like any other twilight fans for the next sequels. I also started reading the novel itself from book 1: Twilight up to the last book Breaking Dawn. I tried to collect the complete series but I failed because I was also collecting some other books that time. The only book I bought for my own collection was the Eclipse and the rest was read thru e-books. I was never disappointed from the very start with the film adaptation of the novel which is the most common problem or challenge of film adaptations of novels due to great comparison of some readers and critics, maybe because I was one of those typical avid fans of Twilight Saga. I am definitely a loyal supporter of the original love team (main characters) Edward and Bella.  Although, I admit Jacob is hotter than Edward from the movie and his character plays a great role through the whole series.

Even though I already read the book and somehow knew how will the story goes before watching every part of the movie, still it’s a different feeling and I was all excited every time it hits in the cinema.

Watching the last installment of the movie Breaking Dawn was a superb experience. Once again, I didn’t get disappointed and the ending of the movie was well justified. My emotions was at it’s peak while watching it, especially to the scene that Carlisle died because of his outrage when Alice was about to kill by the Volturi Guardians. I almost cried and wanted to scream hysterically that moment, I can’t accept that it would end that way, that my loved characters was being killed one by one. Then all of sudden, it was just an amazing and unpredictable twist of the movie after all. All the scenes in the battle between the Cullens coven and Volturi which made my heart sank and beat fast was all a part of the vision of Alice saw by Aro when he held her hand, visions which may happen that moment if Aro didn’t change his mind to punish the Cullens about the existence of Renesmee. Of course Aro didn’t want his death. Oh my!.. What a trick!.. I would be crying up until now and still mourning about the awful deaths of the characters I loved so much if that would be the case and I think I wouldn’t get over by it forever.

I’ve been a fan of it for four years. Haaays.. I will surely miss Twilight, the story and all the characters! :((

“heart beats fast colors and promises, how to be brave, how can I love when I’m afraid to fall but watching you stand alone all of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.. one step closer.. I have died everyday waiting for you, darlin’ don’t be afraid I have loved you for a thousand years, I’ll love you for a thousand more..”

Young at Heart! Not by age!.. :P

I think everyone is excited on their own birthdays. Me?.. I guess not! I don’t know maybe it’s because of the “age” thing and expenses to be made, because when you’re all grown up, it’s the other way around it’s not you who is being treated, it’s you who’s going to treat those people around that are close to you, that includes family and friends/work colleagues. Imagine how much will that cost. Hehehe .. It’s just me being thrifty because of the goals I made this last quarter of the year.

By the way, I am turning 27 this coming 29th of November, just a few days to go. Whew! I’m a little pressured somehow. I don’t know!.. 27 and I still can’t believe it. Hehehe .. I guess, I always feel young all these years.

Anyway, during my birthday I usually think of how does my last year passed. Reminiscing all the things I’ve done. Thinking and looking forward to another year GOD has given to me. I also noticed that during my birthday I am getting a little dramatic and emotional. I don’t know, maybe it’s my childish side. Like I don’t post my birth date in my facebook account because I don’t want to be greeted just because they did remember it because of the notification on facebook. I don’t need lots of greeters on facebook, I would appreciate it even a few greeters just because they remember my birthday, they value me and they don’t neglect of me having them.

I filed a vacation leave on the 29th and 30th of November. I don’t know yet what will I do on those days considering that’s my birthday. I’m still thinking of that as of now.

oh no!.. skin allergy attack again!..

I was reading a blog when suddenly I felt something itchy all over my skin and I can’t stop myself from scratching it. Then I realized it’s all because of the “tuyo” or dried fish I‘ve eaten a while ago. haaaayss…

It’s been like years since the last time I ate “tuyo”. I saw it in the frying pan when I arrived at home. The smell was so tempting that I really wanted to eat immediately the moment I took the lid of the pan to check what’s inside. Plus I found some sliced tomatoes dip in spicy soy sauce. Oh my gosh!.. Then that’s it I gave in. I ate a little, just one piece of it. After an hour or so, that’s when I felt that itchiness. I thought it’s because of my bed sheet that I haven’t changed yet for a week now but when I went to the bathroom, I was shocked to see those reddish skin rashes all over my skin. :(

As far as I remembered, the last time I have skin allergy was during my college days when I ate something malansa like fish, seafoods, chicken and egg or during cold weather. After so many years that I haven’t skin allergy attack, I thought I was over it. Now, I guess I have to refrain from eating those food again.. even just for a while!.. I hate it!

Team Leo-April Team Building

My Skill 2 Family – Team Leo-April Team Building

Smooth Escape Garden Resort – Binangonan, Rizal

Whew!.. I almost missed this one. Thanks to my friends who insisted me to come along despite of my hesitation. We had our team building last Saturday night on the very same day I had my 1st day menstrual period. How cool is that?! thanks to having dysmenorrhea during 1st days, it sucks!! Anyway, that morning I texted right away my friends that I won’t be able to come in our team building due to that reason but they insisted me to still go. Despite of not feeling well that day, I ended up going there with them and I’m glad I did. I just brought some medicines and sanitary napkins. Although, there are some few moments I felt menstrual cramps, I still managed to enjoy the whole night despite of activity limitations like I won’t be able to swim with them in the pool. I chose to enjoy that night instead of staying in my bed at home. ^_^

can't you see?..

“Can’t you see? This all a big mistake, I should try and walk away but I need someone to hold me. And I know there’s no way that this can last. Still I know that if you ask me to I know I would stay tonight, just for tonight.”

another joy of the family

He came in our family in a not-so-good circumstances, he is the son of my 21 year old brother. It happened that we just learned about his existence at the time that his mother was going to gave birth to him. Meaning, unexpected! His birth had caused so much drama and dilemma to our family. However, after some time everything is alright now. I didn’t expect that all the pains will heal as fast as that, considering our situation that time and for whatever happened in the past in our family. Thanks GOD! GOD is really good!.. :D

Now, he’s like an angel to us. He brought joy to the family especially to my parents.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY JHAY MACK AMPATIN!!.. ^_^

Movie Marathon

Since I don’t have work schedules since yesterday and that means long, long weekend.. I decided to have movie marathon.. :D

Here are the list of movies I have watched..

Armageddon is a 1998 American science fiction disaster drama film, directed by Michael Bay, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and released by Disney's Touchstone Pictures. The film follows a group of blue-collar deep-core drillers sent by NASA to stop a gigantic asteroid on a collision course with Earth. It features an ensemble cast including Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Will Patton, Peter Stormare, William Fichtner, Michael Clarke Duncan, Keith David and Steve Buscemi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armageddon_(1998_film)

I already watched this movie years ago but when I saw it on HBO, I can’t stop myself watching it over again. One of the best movies ever!

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles is a 2012 Filipino comedy action horror film directed by Erik Matti. The film stars Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe,Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, Roi Vinzon and LJ Reyes. The film is produced by Reality Entertainment and AgostoDos Pictures, together with PostManila, Mothership Inc. and GMA Films and released on October 17, 2012. Dingdong Dantes, whose company AgostoDos Pictures also serves as one of the producers, expresses his excitement while making the film. "We're shooting inside the studio and trying to act like there are aswangs coming after us. It's challenging. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiktik:_The_Aswang_Chronicles

Actually, I don’t enjoy the movie that much maybe because of the poor quality of the DVD copy we bought. I find it boring and corny. Sorry!.. :)

This Guy's In Love With U Mare! is a 2012 Filipino comedy film under Star Cinema and Viva Films. It stars Vice Ganda, Luis Manzano and Toni Gonzaga, and it is directed by Wenn V. Deramas. The film received mixed reviews from Filipino critics. The film is about an unlikely love triangle. After Lester (Vice Ganda) catches his boyfriend (Luis Manzano) proposing marriage to Gemma (Toni Gonzaga), it seems as if his whole world comes crashing down. He devises a brilliant plan to keep Gemma away from his ex by making her fall for in love with him. Will Lester emerge victorious and win the heart of his old partner? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Guy's_in_Love_with_U_Mare!

Non-stop laughing with my family while watching it! Ang kulet lang!.. hehe ..

The Vow is a 2012 romantic drama film directed by Michael Sucsy, starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum.[2] The film is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. It is the final film by Spyglass Entertainment, before MGM takes over. The Vow is based on the actual relationship of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, who wrote a book about their marriage, also known as The Vow. Ten weeks after their wedding on 18 September 1993, the couple was in an automobile accident in which Krickitt suffered brain trauma, which erased memories of her romance with Kim as well as their recent marriage. Kim, however, was still madly in love with his wife, although she viewed him as a stranger after the accident. According to the couple, their faith in Jesus and their wedding vows before God kept them together. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vow_(2012_film)

One of the best dramatic and romantic movies I ever watched. I can’t help myself from crying while watching this. Another must-see movie of Channing Tatum.
